Overview
Who can apply:
Candidates must, at the time of application, be eligible for GBC with the BPS. Only those candidates who are eligible for GBC will be considered.

We do NOT require a driving licence and/or access to a car.
Qualifications:
We do NOT consider degree classification as part of our selection process
Experience:
We do NOT have any requirements for previous clinical experience and do not use such experience in assessing applicant’s potential for training

Application:
Lancaster uses a screening test to which all applicants who meet our eligibility criteria are invited. Please see our website for details of the test.
Please note that the Suitability Statements, personal statements in your Application, clinical work experience, and previous academic attainments are NOT used to assess your application to the programme, nor provided to interview panel members.

Professional accreditation
The programme is approved by the HCPC and accredited by the BPS. The programme does not consider the APEL credit system.
Approach and theories
The BPS requires all programmes to teach CBT and at least one other approach over 3 years (if full time). At Lancaster, we offer CBT, neuropsychology, cognitive analytic therapy and systemic practice. Within the systemic practice teaching there are also specialist teaching sessions on narrative therapy. Placement locations
Placements are allocated across the whole of the northwest of England and may be located in Lancashire, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside or Cumbria. Placements are allocated based on learning needs with the geographic location of trainees considered. See here for more details of the placement structure throughout training.
