Training with us
Support Available
As a Programme Team, we expect trainees to work relatively independently and in a professional manner. Together with this, we recognise that the programme is a demanding one, and provide support during training. Seeking support is viewed as a professionally responsible course of action. A range of structures and procedures have been put in place to provide trainees with adequate support. Advice and support are provided to trainees as follows:
- Course Tutors, who meet with trainees as line managers to address possible concerns.
- Professional mentors. These can be requested by trainees. These are local Clinical Psychologists whose roles are kept separate from any evaluative component, and who may provide support, guidance and advocacy.
- Buddy system. New trainees are also allocated a "buddy" from the year above for peer support.
- Peer Led Groups. There are a number of self-managed groups.
Wellbeing and Support Services are available to trainees through both the University and the Employing Trust.
Trainee Feedback
We actively engage with trainee feedback. Trainee cohorts are represented on our committee structures and also provide individual feedback regarding their teaching and experiences of placements. Regular drop in spaces are offered to trainee cohorts to address specific issues.
