Applicants with Disabilities
Any issues using this site?
All courses welcome applications from people with disabilities
If you are invited for a short-listing test or an interview and you have any support needs, we suggest you contact the relevant course staff team or the relevant University Disability Service, so that adjustments can be made in good time.
- Please see the Courses section for the contact details for each course
- Please see the After You Apply section for information about short-listing tests or interviews
Disability Confident scheme
What is it?
The Disability Confident scheme (previously known as "two ticks" or "double-tick") is a voluntary scheme that organisations can sign up to. It supports organisations in making the most of the talents disabled people have to offer.
- Please see the gov.uk website for information about the Disability Confident scheme
Who does it cover?
If you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act, and you want to be considered under the scheme, please indicate this in the Basics section of your Application.
- Please see the Equality and Human Rights Commission website for information about the Equality Act and the definition of disability
Not all courses are involved in the scheme, so this will only take effect if the courses you have applied to are participating.
- Please see the Courses section to check which courses are involved
Do I need to give details of my disability?
You are not required to give details of your disability. It is your decision whether or not to disclose a disability at any stage in the application process.
If you wish to give details about your disability you can do this in the Background Info section of your Application, in the question about other factors/context.
What about the Equal Opportunities page of my Application?
Any information you give about a disability in the Equal Opportunities page of your Application may not be available to the courses. This depends on the consent you give and on how each course uses (or does not use) that data in their selection process.
So if you have a disability and wish to be considered under the Disability Confident scheme please indicate this in the Basics section of your Application.
- Please see the Equal Opportunities section for how that page of your Application may be used
