Trainees are full-time employees of Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust and have annual leave and other benefits in line with usual NHS entitlements. On entry to the programme, all trainees are currently paid on the first spine point of Band 6 of the Agenda for Change pay scales.

Currently, travelling expenses are paid for travel within placement, and to support research activity. Travel to placement is paid when the distance is further than home-University. University fees are paid directly by HEE North, and trainees have an allocation of £200 per year for attendance at conferences and for the purchase of books (in addition to a separate £1,000 budget for their large-scale research project).
