Placements

  • All placements are located in Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board which stretches from Wrexham to Pwllheli, and Holyhead to Dolgellau or in the northern parts of Powys Teaching Health Board, from Machynlleth to Llanidloes with Newtown being a main base.
  • Due to the challenges of public transport in rural areas and the extensive travel distances, having access to your own transport will be required.
  • Due to the above, trainees are expected to live within the North Wales / North Powys area. Permission to live outside these boundaries is at the discretion of the Programme Director and may only be granted when there are specific personal circumstances that mean moving is not possible. Trainees need to able to attend placement across all areas of North Wales and North Powys.
  • While health conditions and caring responsibilities are taken into account as much as possible the geography of the area and placement pressures mean that it is not always possible to place you near to your home.
  • Travel costs will be paid from a clinical base, which is agreed for the duration of the training.
  • Funding towards overnight accommodation during clinical placement, will be available where this would be more cost-effective than daily travel.
